The full power 132' EFHW is simply amazing. I had high expectations, but not this high. The performance of the KO4FSZ end fed antenna outperforms my existing three antennas (2 wires and a vertical) on all bands under most conditions. It is the best antenna purchase I have ever made. The Hiker is my new favorite portable antenna. Based on 2 times using it I wouldn't overthink how to deploy it, it works well. I have activated 1 POTA park so far with it and got two back-to-back California stations booming in (from Virginia), and tonight took it to a friend's house and using an arborist throw, got it ~15 ft up sloping from a tree limb down to a metal shed, using the included strap on the SO-239 connector and some bungee cord - secured it to the door frame, ran coax, and had Maine, 2 Florida, and Nova Scotia in the log with 9W SSB from VA before storms moved in. Like all Chris's antennas I own, it's a quality product.

I've been testing out a new EFHW antenna this weekend. It's been up since Saturday morning, here at the house. Orientation is an Inverted L configuration. 32' vertical and the remainder is horizontal, pointed due west. Supported by 2 10m Spiderbeam poles. It is the Tactical EFHW (TF EFHW 10-40 150W) by Chris Hofstetter KO4FSZ Antennas By Ko4fsz .Awesome antenna! One of the biggest things I have noticed with this antenna, is the RX audio quality. It seems to me, that this antenna receives better than some of the other EFHW antennas that I have. (I have probably 15 EFHW'S - don't ask, I'm kind of addicted to wire antennas)I have used my LDG AT-600 PROII AUTOTUNER with this antenna just to make the ICOM 7300 happier. My conditions here at the QTH probably have some impact on SWR in the first place. I'm close in proximity to others, as well as power lines and transformers. However, most of the time, I do have a relatively low noise level on the radio.I have made several contacts over the weekend on this antenna. I hunted POTA stations Saturday, and every one commented on my TX signal being big, large, loud, booming, and so on. I've made contacts with stations I could not even see on the waterfall of the 7300, but I could hear them clear as day! How that worked out, I'm clueless. I'm an otr truck driver, not an RF Engineer.I also have his new Mini Hiker 25w, that will be going on the road with me, when I leave out again. I'll hopefully get some time to test it out with the Xiegu G90 and GSOC that goes everywhere with me. I wanted to try it out here at home this weekend as well, but I didn't want to take this Tactical down because it was so impressive, even with band conditions being so up and down this weekend. For any new(ish/er) operator or even someone else like me, that just has an addiction to wire antennas, looking for a QUALITY EFHW...Get yourself some, you won't be disappointed!73KD0QZR

I contacted Chris just before the holidays and requested a custom version of this antenna. He agreed but let me know that he was out of town until after the holidays. One he returned home he built my antenna and shipped it the next day! I tested the antenna yesterday and it works great. The build quality and the mod that I had requested are top notch. This antenna will be a great addition to my POTA go kit!

I got my start building endfeds for a quick antenna I could use on a family vacation to Ohio over Christmas so the kids could talk to "Santa" on the Santa Net. After a bunch of trial and error I found a configuration that worked for me.  I sent my first one to NC4XL and after using it he promptly told me I would never get that antenna back. HAHA  Thanks DOM!!!  And ever since I have been designing new ideas for you guys to enjoy using as much as I enjoy building them.
